Summary. Currency Quokka does not ask you to create an account, and it does not run a newsletter. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage, and only after you choose Accept on the cookie notice. Your cookie choice is stored only in your own browser.

1. Who we are

Currency Quokka operates currencyquokka.com, a free currency converter. It shows indicative European Central Bank reference rates republished by the Frankfurter API. This page explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

You can use the converter without an account.

Usage data. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 receives aggregate information about visits. That can include an approximate location such as country or city, browser and device type, pages viewed, time on the site, and the site that referred you. If you choose Essential only, or if you have not chosen yet, analytics storage stays denied.

On your device. The amounts you type are used to calculate a result in the browser. We do not keep a conversion history on a server. The preference we do save is your cookie choice, in this browser’s local storage under cq-cookie-choice. It is not sent to us as a file of personal details. Clearing site data removes it.

Rate requests. The page asks the Frankfurter API for a reference rate. Frankfurter, and the network in front of it, can see the technical details of that request, such as an IP address. Currency Quokka does not operate that API.

3. Cookies

If you accept, Google Analytics may store analytics cookies such as _ga and a cookie whose name starts with _ga_. Those cookies measure visits to this site. They are not used today to follow you across other sites for advertising.

You can refuse analytics with Essential only on the notice, or with the Google Analytics Opt-out add-on.

Advertising cookies are not used today. No display-ad tag is installed. The cookie notice still sends a denied signal for advertising storage until you choose Accept, so a future ad tag would not start storing until then. If a display-ad partner is added later, this page and the cookie policy will be updated first, and consent will be requested. Essential only keeps both analytics and advertising storage denied.

4. How we use information

Accepted analytics are used to see which pages are used, to notice broken pages, and to decide what to improve. We do not sell, rent, or share a visitor list for commercial purposes.

5. Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a service of Google LLC. When analytics storage is granted, Google may set cookies and process technical data about the visit, as described in the Google Privacy Policy. Google may truncate IP addresses for visitors in the EU, depending on the property settings. We do not operate Google’s systems.

6. Data retention

Google Analytics keeps usage data for 14 months. The cookie choice stays in your browser until you clear site data for currencyquokka.com.

7. Children’s privacy

The converter is a general-audience tool. It is not directed at children.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR or the CCPA, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, to object to certain processing, or to complain to a data protection authority. We collect little personal information directly. If you have a concern, write to info@currencyquokka.com or use the contact page.

You can withdraw consent for analytics, and for any future advertising storage, by choosing Essential only after clearing the saved choice described in the cookie policy.

9. Third-party links

Pages may link to other sites, including Frankfurter and Google. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
